Welcome to the Big Creek Tree Service Blog

Hey, I'm Joseph — owner of Big Creek Tree Service. My crew and I have been working trees across Greater Cleveland and Northeast Ohio for over 25 years. We've climbed them, removed them, treated them, and cleared entire lots of them. Now we're putting that knowledge somewhere it can actually help you.

This blog is that place.

What You'll Find Here

We're keeping it practical. No filler, no fluff — just the kind of advice that saves you money, protects your property, and helps you make smart decisions about the trees on your land.

We're organized into three topic areas:

Tree Care covers the fundamentals: how to read a sick tree, when trimming helps versus hurts, how to spot Emerald Ash Borer before it kills your ash, and what "tree health" actually means in an NE Ohio winter. This is the day-to-day stuff most homeowners never get straight answers on.

Emergency & Storm Response covers what to do before, during, and after a storm hits your property. Northeast Ohio gets hammered — ice storms in March, high-wind events in summer, heavy snow that arrives in October before the leaves have even dropped. We'll walk you through pre-season assessments, what to do if a tree hits your house at 2am, and how insurance claims actually work in Ohio when a tree is involved.

Property & Business covers the bigger picture: how trees affect your home's appraised value, what to know before buying a property with mature trees, navigating HOA disputes, and when it makes financial sense to invest in treatment versus removal. If you manage properties or are thinking about a purchase, this section pays for itself.

How Often We Post

We're not trying to be a content machine. You'll see new posts when there's something worth saying — typically a few times a month, with more frequency during spring and fall when tree work peaks across NE Ohio. Every post will be written by someone who's actually been up in a tree, not a content writer who googled "tree facts."

A Note Before You Go

The blog is useful, but it's not a substitute for an on-site look. Trees fail in ways that photographs don't capture and words can't fully describe. If something on your property has you worried — a lean you don't remember being there, a crack in a main scaffold limb, a root ball starting to heave — call us.

Estimates are always free. Advice over the phone costs you nothing.
